The Holy Spirit is one with the Father and the Son. He is one of three essences seen in the Trinity. The Spirit plays a major roll in our salvation and restraining evil in the world today
Truths about the trinity
-The trinity is not the belief in three Gods, but the belief in one God who displays Himself three different ways.
-God has revealed himself in the persons of the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. There is one nature and one essence in three persons
-The trinity has existed eternally
-There is an unbreakable and continuous bond of love between all essences of the trinity, the trinity serves itself`
Ministries of the Holy Spirit:
Regeneration- to renew or “rebirth.” John 3:3 “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
Indwelling– (Ro 5:5, 8:9) to make residency in) at conversion He comes to dwell within us and empower us
Empowerment-He equips us to serve and gives us the strength to endure what He has for us. (Eph. 3:14-19)
One way God empowers us is through Spiritual gifts (Romans 12:6-8, 1 Cor. 12:8-10, 1 Peter 4:11)
Intercessor-He intercedes on behalf of us (Romans 8:26-27)
Paraclete-means “comforter” or counselor” John 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another counselor to be with you forever-the spirit of truth.
Restrains- suppresses evil, or it would overtake the world. (2 Thes. 2:7)
Reproves- (John 16:7-11) He prepares our heart for salvation be making us aware of:
Our sin in our life that separates us from God.
Of the need for righteousness in our life to please God and satisfy the Law
Of the judgment to come for the sin and the lack of righteousness in our lives
Gifts the Holy Spirit Bestows on His people:
-Spiritual Gifts (Ro 12:6-8, 1 Cor. 12:8-10, 1 Cor. 12:28-30)
-Fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23)
